Sustainability
Being a community oriented club, we take pride in running several sustainability-related initiatives and practices, giving back to our players, our community, and the environment.
Reboot Program
Players donate their old boots which still have a bit of life left in them or may need to change boots as not their preferred style or who have outgrown them to the boot library shelf and other players can take them for free.
45 pairs of boots are gifted to the boot library on average each year.
Containers for Change
We have dedicated bins onsite and a smooth collection process set up as part of the WA containers for change. All drink cans and bottles are recycled.
Income received from this activity is reinvested into the club, paying towards replacement equipment.
Take Care of Equipment
Where possible, broken equipment such as mini goals and large goals are welded, bibs and ball bags are mended. As well as any old balls are donated to other teams or players for use instead of being discarded.
A full stocktake is done prior to ordering new equipment to ensure sustainability of our items.
Reduced Single-Use Items
Every season we have worked towards reducing single-use items. This includes equipping the canteen with a full cutlery tray and plates for up to 55 people to use, along with second hand utensils and appliances.
This has reduced the amount of paper cutlery and plates consumed each week by 90%.
We also re-use decorations for events and activities organised by the club.
Toy Box
We have donated toys in the SPUFC community toy box which kids can use when they come to the clubhouse to keep them entertained while parents are watching or playing matches.
